Vivienne Westwood Anglomania
So, I know I said I was prepared to say farewell to Fall/Winter 2008 and all of it's glorious layers, then we got 8" of snow and 2" of ice last night...and I saw this coat from Vivienne Westwood's Anglomania. When it comes to military inspired fashion, there is an abundantly diverse selection of pieces that represent a whole spectrum of origins and military eras. From WWII paratrooper-esque jumpsuits, to 18th century French colonel's uniforms, there are endless uses for these reminiscent details. I don't know if this coat is in fact military or simply old-world Britt, but I love the strong lapel and how, even with the double-button, it still pinches-in (very femenine) at the waist.

Daniele Alessandrini
Although I know very little of the designer's work, I recently was introduced to this brand by way of the men's collection. And it's hard for me to comment on the fashion alone without also drawing attention to how fantastic this entire shot is. The hair and lips, the coat, the proportion of the trousers, the light, the shadow, color...that coat! I thought of this as an appropriate image to use as a farewell to Fall 2008, as we will see more and more of the Spring looks cropping up and brushing the clouds away. However excited as I may be to welcome this fresh season I also mourn the passing of fall layers, cashmere sweaters, boots and strikingly elegant coats such as this.

Floto + Warner
Recently featured on Refinery29, these pendant lights are made from used, discarded jewelry found at The Goodwill and Salvation Army. They're made in various sizes and each unique. The website for this design team presents wonderful photographs of interiors, exteriors, portraits and other projects they've done. Seeing these chandeliers has inspired me to delve into my own jewelry box, with a pair of needle-nosed pliers in hand, in hopes of resuscitating some old, forgotten friends.

Dolce Vita
Of all of the indispensable items in my own wardrobe, a great pair (or two) of neutral shoes is, without question, on my short list of most loved. Flats, sandals, or pumps, a nude shoe is classic, subtle and when worn with a bare leg quite flattering. I liked this pair in particular because, although they're seemingly plain, they have a hidden platform, clean lines and that great little stitched detail at the toe. They give me a Jessica Rabbit/50's housewife vibe...but maybe I'm the only one.
