Rick Owens

The waiters at my favorite Moroccan restaurant wear this style of pant, with the dropped, or sometimes draped crotch, although I'm unsure if there is a traditional name. They've shown up in many ready-to-wear and street-wear collections. I really like this particular pair, with the paneling of different textured fabrics...They're motocross-meets-lunar-space-mission and completely badass. (at Oak, NY)

Although these were technically part of the spring '08 collection, I just purchased them the other day and found that they are perfectly suitable for this mild fall we've been having. Dries Van Noten has always been a favorite in my book, most notably for the quality of craftsmanship and longevity of his classic designs, there is always a sense of nostalgia that surround his collections. I immediately took the laces out of these oxfords and I feel very smart indeed!

***At first glance I thought they were called Creased Slacks, but in actuality they're 'Greased Slacks'. I'm sure it's the poly/rayon/spandex blend that gives them their sheen (not Martin or Charlie). I could wear these to a cocktail party, or with sneakers and my favorite hoodie. In fact, there were several pieces from this collection that I was drawn to for their elegant-edginess: the cozy Cacoon Cardigan, the Ruched Swing Skirt in that awesome chartreuse, and any of the finely knit tees, racer-back tanks and various other layers.

As fall collections started showing copious amounts of plaid, I silently told myself that I would try my best to steer clear of the trendy print. But I love this jacket for so many other reasons...the collar, the boxy shape, quirky proportions. I imagine wearing an equally over-sized men's white, collared dress shirt underneath, slim dark denim, my new favorite Dries Van Noten oxfords and a touch of gold jewelry.

This style, 'Delphine', was made in many other colors, chocolate, black, white and a great deep, dark green...but it's this mineral gray that stuck with me. I have a pair very similar to these from a previous season in a totally neutral tan, and love them to death, they all but disappear when on. This updated version, with it's exaggerated ruffle (almost Scottish kilt-like), is fun, demure and wearable with pretty much anything. Oh, and did I mention that they're patent leather...
